Preconception Counselling
It is common to want to know all is well before starting to try for a family. We are able to see you to give general advice about fertility, conception and lifestyle. We can discuss any concerns you may have and, if indicated, perform some baseline tests and an ultrasound scan.
At chelseagynaecology, we believe that planning is key to a healthy pregnancy. Our preconception counselling services provide you with the knowledge and support you need to optimise your health and prepare for a successful pregnancy journey. We will guide you through every step.
At Chelsea Gynaecology, we understand that the early stages of pregnancy can sometimes bring uncertainty or worry. If you are experiencing symptoms such as bleeding, pain, or simply feel in need of reassurance, our specialist team is here to support you.
We offer prompt access to expert assessment, including ultrasound scanning where appropriate, in a calm and discreet environment—providing clarity and reassurance when you need it most.
Mr Duffy can provide antenatal consultations only and can offer advice on care in the antenatal period and provide advice on any delivery concerns.
Discovering you are expecting a baby is one of the most exciting times of your life. Preparing for the new addition to your family should be an enjoyable time for expectant parents. Shane Duffy provides a continuum of care for uncomplicated pregnancies and pregnancies that develop complications in early pregnancy, antenatal period or labour.
Shane strongly supports personal choice in childbirth for women and their partners. We discuss the entire spectrum of childbirth options with you and we do our best to accommodate your personal needs and desires.
Shane provides private maternity care based at the Kensington Wing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
A comprehensive full maternity package includes:
- your initial booking consultation
- 24 hour on-call cover
- emergency consultation should the need arise
- all in-patient consultations and phone calls
- delivery of your baby
- a six week postnatal visit for mum
All deliveries take place in the Kensington Wing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, which offers state of the art maternity equipment and the highest level of neonatal intensive care.

Mr Duffy leads the complex surgical obstetric clinic and manages all surgical conditions in pregnancy – previous difficult Caesarean sections, fibroids in pregnancy, low lying placenta and previous anal sphincter or perineal trauma.

Mr Duffy can provide care after the birth of your baby, post natal checks, pelvic floor assessments, contraceptive advise and wound care.
