Mr Duffy’s experience working in several countries and as a consultant for the last 20 years allows him to bring his lived experience to manage all gynaecological conditions, early pregnancy and complicated and uncomplicated pregnancies.
Dr Duffy trained at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, University of London, and has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology. He holds several advanced qualifications including DTM&H, DObs, DMed and MSc, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG).
He is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, one of London’s leading centres for maternity and women’s health.

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Mr Shane Duffy is a highly regarded consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in London who has over 20 years of experience. Shane is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Shane’s areas of specialist interest in gynaecology are ultrasound scanning, perineal trauma, female pelvic floor reconstruction surgery and high-risk pregnancies. Shane’s areas of specialist interest in pregnancy are complex obstetric surgery, complex caesarean sections and placenta praevia. Shane is the Clinical Director for the North West London specialist commissioned abnormally invasive placenta service (low lying placentas that are abnormally adherent) and he is the Lead Gynaecologist for the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative.

Clinical Leadership and NHS Roles
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Duffy holds several senior leadership roles within the NHS.
He is the Clinical Director of the Placenta Accreta Service, a specialist NHS-commissioned service for North West London providing expert care for women with complex placenta conditions and high-risk caesarean deliveries.
Dr Duffy is also the Gynaecology Lead for the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative, a partnership of NHS trusts operating across 12 hospitals and serving more than two million people across North West London.
He currently serves as Chairman of the North West London Gynaecology Clinical Reference Group, helping guide the development and delivery of women’s health services across the region.
In addition, Dr Duffy previously advised the UK Secretary of State for Health through the Independent Reconfiguration Panel, contributing expert clinical advice to national healthcare service planning.
International Work and Global Health
Dr Duffy has a strong interest in global women’s health and has led several international gynaecological surgical and training projects aimed at improving access to specialist care and developing local surgical expertise.
He has worked with medical teams and training programmes across South Africa, Ethiopia, Uganda and Mozambique, contributing to the development of gynaecological surgical services and supporting the training of healthcare professionals in these regions.

Dr Duffy has particular expertise in several specialist areas of obstetrics and gynaecology, including:
- Urogynaecology – management of pelvic floor disorders, urinary symptoms and vaginal prolapse
- Placenta accreta and complex placenta conditions – specialist care for high-risk pregnancies
- Complex obstetric surgery – including advanced caesarean delivery and complex obstetric procedures
- Fistula surgery – Management of gynaecological and obstetric fistula, a national and international service provided by Dr. Duffy
